Interesting Updates to California
AB60 - California Drivers License for Undocumented Immigrants: Undocumented, overstay, or otherwise immigrants without a current immigration status may still obtain a California Driver's License to avoid any penalties associated with driving without a license. These penalties may be significant, especially if a police officer pulls the driver over. It is important for immigrants without driver's licenses to obtain their driver's license under the AB60 rule with the DMV. I am Jesse Jong, I have been an attorney since 2011 and have worked on asylum, deportation, naturalization, citizenship, adjustment of status, TPS, DACA, deferred action, and several other immigration cases. I support Dreamers and I stand with AILA in pushing Congress to pass a comprehensive law that allows DACA recipients to adjust their status.
My first language is Chinese, Mandarin as I was born in Taiwan. Since I was 2 years old, I have been living in the US. Being an immigrant myself, I have been working with my immigration community since before I started high school. I understand the community's immigration needs and I strive to help my community gain access to the immigration benefits it deserves.
I gain my experience, passion, and knowledge from my father. Although my father was not an attorney, he has sponsored many relatives, friends, and their family to become United States Citizens. I learned at a very young age that one person can change the world, it just takes a change with one person at a time. My immigration interest was carried on through study and work during my career as a law student. In my first year of law school, I began working with immigration attorneys to further educate myself about immigration law. I learned much from my mentors through my years of law school and into practice. My mentors are always with me and help me through all parts of my career.
My only goal is to help my community thrive in the United States of America and obtain their dreams through immigration law.
